Sawtell Chilli Festival
Date: Saturday 6th July
Venue: First Avenue, Sawtell
Contact Details: Sawtell Chamber of Commerce on phone (02) 6653 1230 for details about how to become a stall holder.

Event Details:
One of the hottest events on the Coffs Coast events calendar, the 15th annual Sawtell Chilli Festival, is this year held on Saturday 6 July 2013.

Even though it’s the middle of a Coffs Coast (mild) winter, the event is guaranteed to turn up the heat a few notches. Each year, the popular festival attracts thousands of people to the pretty seaside village, keen to sample the wide range of chilli-related foods and products, take part in fun activities and competitions and be entertained by live music, dancing, cooking and other performances.

Sawtell’s iconic main street will be lined on both sides with stalls where you’re sure to find something of your liking – hot and spicy, nice and mild or maybe even something completely different if you’re not that keen on chillies.

The festival is also just an incredibly fun day out for the whole family. There will be street performances, rides for the kids, live music and dancing and, of course, the by now very famous annual Chilli Eating Competition! Those who can’t get enough of the hot stuff should definitely sign up to have a go. Everyone else needs to come along and support the brave participants in one of the region’s most exciting and entertaining competitions.

Less fiery but equally fun competitions you can take part in are the Spanish/Mexican style Fancy Dress Competition and the Chilli-themed Hat Parade.

The festival takes place from 10am on Saturday 6 July in First Avenue, which is known for its beautiful old fig trees and its variety of al fresco cafés and restaurants. Sawtell is just a 15-minute drive or 45-minute bike ride from Coffs Harbour.

For further information about the event, visit the Chilli Festival website. http://www.sawtellchillifestival.com.au/
